Urea Phosphate (UP) appears as white or colourless granular crystals with a density of 1.759 g/cm³. It is easily soluble in water and insoluble in organic solvents, with a melting point of 117.3 ℃; its aqueous solution is strongly acidic with a pH of 1.89 for a 1% solution, and it has low thermal stability and decomposes readily when heated. It may cake after long shipment, but the caking can be crumbled by hand and anti-caking agents can be added as required. 100% water-soluble, it is widely used in fertigation of field crops and fruit trees, especially suited to drip irrigation and foliar application, and is highly recommended for high-pH soils as it significantly improves the low efficiency of phosphorus application caused by high pH in saline-alkali soils. It is also used as a raw material for fertilizer blends and liquid fertilizers.
