Dongfang Electric Automation Control Engineering Co., Ltd. (Dongfang Automation Control) was founded in 2002 as a second-tier subsidiary of China Dongfang Electric Group Co., Ltd. With registered capital of RMB 1.041 billion and headquarters in Deyang, Sichuan, it operates four subsidiaries and three branches and employs over 1,350 people. It is recognised by national ministries as an Enterprise Technology Centre and an Industrial Automation R&D Centre, is a key "little giant" specialised enterprise and a Sichuan high-tech enterprise, and hosts a Sichuan academician and expert workstation.
As the group's dedicated platform for power electronics and control, the company serves wind, photovoltaic, hydro, nuclear, gas and coal-fired power generation, and applies its solutions at scale in power station automation, power electronics, industrial digital intelligence, electrochemical energy storage and integrated services, and industrial control cybersecurity. Control systems supplied with generating equipment exceed 800 GW in total capacity, and annual storage equipment shipments exceed 5 GWh.
Its self-developed Hualong One static excitation system broke foreign monopoly and serves the world's first Hualong One demonstration unit. It mastered the control system for F-class 50 MW heavy-duty gas turbines, supporting China's first fully domestic gas turbine. Key components of its all-digital cylindrical valve control system are domestically produced, and the maximum synchronisation error of its giant impulse-type governor is only 0.28% against a national standard of 1%. Its 10 MW offshore wind converter entered the central enterprises' innovation achievements catalogue.
With five industrial bases, three R&D centres and more than 270 patents, the company covers the whole chain of design, manufacturing and commissioning in power station control, and is one of the few Chinese suppliers able to provide both main and auxiliary control systems for thermal, hydro, nuclear, gas-steam combined cycle, wind and solar generation. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period it delivered over 15 GW of power electronics equipment, and its products and services reach nearly 80 countries and regions.
Facing the 15th Five-Year Plan period, under the guidance of the group's overall strategy, the company will thoroughly implement the "1258" development strategy, further strengthen its two pillar industries of power station automation and power electronics, accelerate three emerging directions, namely industrial digital intelligence, electrochemical energy storage and integrated services, and industrial control cybersecurity, and build itself into a world-leading enterprise in the electrical control industry.
