Sichuan Shennong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was established on 7 March 2013 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chengdu Shennong Agricultural Investment Co., Ltd. Located in Nanquan Town, Shifang City, Deyang, Sichuan, the company covers an area of 25 mu and focuses on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction pieces. It holds a Pharmaceutical Production Licence (No. Chuan 20160082, valid until 6 August 2030) together with a Pharmaceutical Trading Licence, covering both conventional decoction pieces and direct oral decoction pieces.
Having obtained the new-version GMP certificate for TCM decoction pieces in Sichuan in January 2014, the company has continually strengthened its quality management system and in April 2017 was again certified for direct oral decoction pieces and 16 conventional processing methods. The plant is equipped with imported high-performance liquid chromatographs, atomic absorption spectrophotometers and other precision instruments, enabling complete testing from raw material identification and assay to heavy metal and pesticide residue analysis.
The company owns the registered trademarks “Tianbao Shennong” and “Xiangnong” and holds 38 intellectual property rights. It is the research unit responsible for the Quality Standard of Tongguanteng in the Processing Specification of TCM Decoction Pieces of Sichuan Province. It was recognised as a Level III Work Safety Standardisation Enterprise in 2014 and 2021, as a High-tech Enterprise jointly by the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Department of Science and Technology and Tax Service in 2018, 2021 and 2024, as a Deyang Municipal Enterprise Technology Centre in 2022, and as a Sichuan Provincial “Specialised, Refined, Distinctive and Innovative” SME in 2023 and 2026.
Respecting tradition while pursuing innovation, the company follows classical processing methods and retains experts from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine to guide the identification and processing of decoction pieces, together with clinical TCM specialists for formula compatibility. It has also developed formulated powder decoction pieces, combining classical TCM theory with modern direct oral preparations, which are widely used for geriatric, chronic and common diseases from tertiary hospitals to primary healthcare institutions.
Guided by the principle of “great virtue sustains all things, Tianbao Shennong” and the motto “never skimp on labour however elaborate the processing, never reduce materials however costly the ingredient”, the company holds itself to the discipline of doing right even when unobserved.
